How ordering works
Every portrait at Mao Qi Culture is painted by hand, to order, in the traditional Chinese gongbi style.
- Place your order and share a clear photo of your pet — you can upload it right on the product page, or reply to your order confirmation email.
- Our artists paint your piece by hand. Custom work takes about 21 days on average from the day we receive your photo.
- If your photo is too dark or blurry to paint from, we will email you and ask for a clearer one before we start.
For Christmas delivery, please order no later than early December.
Shipping
- Orders of CA$100 or more ship free. For smaller orders, shipping is calculated at checkout.
- We ship within Canada, to the US, and to many other countries (rates and options appear at checkout).
- Delivery time varies by destination. Custom pieces are painted first (about 21 days on average) and then shipped.
- For international orders, any customs duties or import taxes are the buyer's responsibility.
Cancellations
- Custom orders can be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours of ordering, before painting begins.
- Once our artists have started work on your piece, the order can no longer be cancelled.
Returns & exchanges
Custom and personalized pieces (pet portraits, Christmas gift sets, and projection-stone pieces made from your photo) are created especially for you, so they cannot be returned for change of mind.
If your custom piece arrives damaged, defective, or clearly different from the pet in the photo you approved, contact us within 14 days of delivery with a photo of the problem. We will repair, replace, or refund your piece — your choice where practical — and we cover any return shipping in these cases.
Ready-made items (original paintings and non-personalized jewelry) can be returned within 30 days of delivery, unused and in their original condition. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility, unless the mistake was ours.
Damaged in transit (any item): please send us a photo within 14 days of delivery and we will make it right.
